Then the very next 2 days we traded $bind long and then short flipping the trade when we saw the momo shift getting us nearly 5k in gains!

trading pr/earnings breakouts is one of our gotosetups. As a trader is imperative to have a toolbox of gotosetups that can work in any market on any given day. Last month, we heard from 60 Day Bootcamp student Wes Bays. Wes talked about his journey as a trader and how the Bulls Bootcamp helped him overcome some trading issues and set him on a path to being a consistently profitable trader. It was a great time and helped a few traders decide to buckle down and get that foundation of knowledge they have been lacking.  Having a mentor can be a lifechanging thing.  It goes beyond trading so many of the students I’ve had and people ive mentored in our business go on to do amazing things and its not always in daytrading.  The things that you learn when you have someone successful guiding you goes beyond just chart patterns.  You learn how to act in certain situations, you learn the proper habits it takes to be successful, and most importantly you learn the mindset you need to win.

He is 26 years old and really hitting his stride the last 12 months. in 2010 to 2012 he lost 40k learning to trade! Good evening folks! Nasty day in the markets with the s&p having its biggest down day in a few months.  What a way to start the year.  Thats ok though we have seen this type of action before the market is not linear it doesnt just go straight up.  And frankly this type of action is easier to trade then those sideways grinds we get after the big run up in the markets.

I had a not so good day trading.  I was super excited to trade this morning and rushed into too many positions at the open.  I live for this type of volatility and  I was salivating. So i went in too many positions at the open and couldnt keep track of them.  My history and the statistics show that I never trade well when I have more then 3 positions and I usually have a lock on my account to not have more then that but i took it off the other day.  So I ended up getting in some hot positions but I had way to much going on and I couldnt sell and take profits fast enough and booooom! I had this $nrx and it dumped like 80 cents in a few minutes and I panicked and sold on lows only to watch it bounce right back! Just bad management of my emotions and energy levels today this used to happen to me all the time but I have curbed it over the years but every blue moon it still can get me.  For me the key is if I am too wired and too excited to start the week I cant trade the open I need to wait 15 minutes and really gather what is going on so I get precise entries.  My problem is I LOVE TRADING. And it comes easy for me in terms of my strategy because I have been doing it for so long. I can trade all this stuff in my sleep …..but my excitement levels can get the best of me and often can make me overtrade as I start to think I’m invincible!  So lesson learned I will be back to normal tomorrow.  Lost 3k it could have been worse as I lost the 3k in pretty much the first 30 minutes of the day.

Wes began trading during the financial collapse a few years ago and enjoyed great success shorting stocks like $HAUP, $ONP, and $BDCO. Despite these early successes, a change in the market environment made Wes realize he wasn’t ready to trade full time yet, so he sought guidance from Maribeth and I on Twitter:

I found Kunal and MB on Twitter back in fall of 2010 and would gchat with both of them while trading and ask them their advice and opinion. They both were always so kind and willing to share info for no charge. I knew these were the kind of people I wanted to work with once it was time to.

After having some pitfalls I knew I was not ready to trade full time as my only source of income so I got a job in industrial sales but it still allowed me the flexibility to trade. I have improved every year but I was too inconsistent. I could have a killer week or two then have two bad weeks and come out with only a quarter of what I had made those one or two good weeks. I had the tools, but not the psychological tools I needed to take the next step toward becoming a consistently profitable trader. This is where Kunal came in.
